Normally, the image of Chianti is linked to the scenic scenery, land products such as oil and wine and medieval or Renaissance architecture enriching its hills. The little ancient villages on the hills with vineyards are perhaps the most typical postcard in the region ... but there is more than that!
We at Diversus like to look for the difference, the surprise and the unexpected. We do, in addition, in our choice of cuisine, which prefers fish and white wine in a region that is historically dedicated to meat and Chianti Classico.
That is why we particularly liked the Sculpture Park, a permanent attraction of contemporary art that was created in Pievasciata, a small hamlet in the heart of our region.
It is located in a wooded area of great charm and offers a themed path realized by artists from all over the world, which, during good season hosts cultural and musical events. Right in front of the park, an art gallery is hosted in the old "La Fornace" terracotta workshop.
Made by Rosalba and Pietro Giadrossi, great contemporary art lovers, in a 17-acre forest, it was opened in 2004. Admission tickets are entirely devoted to the maintenance of the Park, to realize events and to promotion.
A circular walk in the nature of Chianti gives you unexpected emotions and surprises. At every corner of the path suddenly appear suggestive and bold sculptures, with lines that harmonize well with the landscape.
Each artist was invited to visit the woods, to choose the location and to present a proposal that was distinguished for innovation and harmony within the scenery.
The Park itself becomes at the same time a work of art deeply connected with the territory and a showcase for different styles and cultures, integrating man's work with the force of nature, without one overriding the other in any way, in a constant synergy of beauty.
